Citizen Charter

The Citizen’s Charter of Local Self-Government Institutions is a document that transparently provides citizens with information regarding the various services available to them, the procedures to be followed for obtaining such services, and the time limits within which the services will be delivered. Upholding the spirit of the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments, which transformed Local Self-Government Institutions into constitutionally recognized local governments, as well as the provisions of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act and related legislation, Thaekkod Grama Panchayat is committed to ensuring efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly services.

Ensuring that every citizen receives the services to which they are entitled, without delay and free from corruption, is a primary responsibility of a democratic system of governance. This Citizen’s Charter has been prepared to ensure transparent and accountable administration and to provide accurate and clear information to the public approaching the Panchayat Office for various services.

Through this document, the functioning of the Panchayat Office can be made more efficient, while citizens can gain a clear understanding of their rights and of the procedures, required documents, and time limits associated with obtaining various services. The services included in this Charter also remind citizens of their responsibilities along with their rights.

The Charter also incorporates a grievance redressal mechanism to address any failure or delay on the part of the institution in providing services within the stipulated time limit. With the objective of promoting people’s participation in development and ensuring transparent and accountable governance, this Citizen’s Charter is intended to make local democracy more participatory, accessible, and citizen-friendly.

The Citizen’s Charter of Thaekkod Grama Panchayat is hereby presented to the public.
